Ensembles and Staff

Preparatory Division (P) rehearses Wednesdays,
6:45-7:30 p.m.

The Preparatory Division is a non-performing ensemble that addresses the educational needs of the beginning singer. These classes introduce students to the basics of musicianship such as how to use the voice, how to hear music, how to read music, and how to develop appropriate behavior as a chorister.

5:30-6:25 p.m.

In the Developing Choir, choristers have an opportunity to further develop their vocal and musical skills through the learning and performing of a variety of choral repertoire. This ensemble performs several times throughout the year and constitutes the largest number of children in the organization. All of the WCC directors as well as older choristers from the Advanced Choir participate in the leadership of this choir.

Advanced Choir (AC) rehearses Wednesdays,
6:30-8:00 p.m.

The Advanced Choir is an accelerated learning and performing environment for choristers who demonstrate the ability to read music and have advanced vocal skills. The members of this group have numerous opportunities to perform throughout the year, especially those chosen to participate in one or more of the Special Projects Ensembles.

Special Projects Ensemble (SPE) rehearses when called

Members of the Advanced Choir will have numerous opportunities to participate in one or more Special Project Ensembles throughout the year. For each special concert, tour or recording project, an appropriate number of choristers will be selected to comprise one of the Special Projects Ensembles. Participation in these groups is based on skill, behavior and level of commitment. It requires attendance at special Saturday or Sunday rehearsals depending on the particular project.

Young Men’s Ensemble (YME) rehearses Wednesdays, 5:30-6:25 p.m.

The Young Men’s Ensemble is designed to meet the specific needs of the changing and changed male voice. This ensemble will set its rehearsal schedule once auditions are completed.
